Listen, there are so many reasons I prefer to board early as an accommodation for my disability. A big one? Anxiety. Being rushed (or the feeling of being rushed or judged or pushed) can make tasks like boarding a plane near impossible for me.
Anyone else struggle with that kind of anxiety?
For the handful of folks who guessed Richmond, Virginia, you have eagle eyes. How did you know that from an 8-second video at the airport?
I'll post more about this trip soon, so keep an eye on IG and FB.
In the interim, tell me. Have you ever been to Richmond? If yes, what are your must-see things.
If you haven't been, wanna come?
Hi friends,
For those who celebrate, how were the recent holidays? We go from Thanksgiving to my daughter's birthday the following Saturday, so this is always a hectic and wonderful time of year.
The real question, tho: anyone actually ready for December?
On Thanksgiving, I absolutely love the food. But I especially love the fellowship. I know I'm thankful to have loved ones to share this meal with.
I'm thankful for so much. My family, my ability to pay my bills, my ability to help others. I'm thankful for being able to experience the world with my little family. I'm thankful that my health is on my mend. And I'm thankful for the community here.
What are you thankful for?
Listen, the internet wants me to post some sort of witty commentary or really inspirational and touching personal narrative... but honestly, I'm exhausted. Anyone else exhausted?
So I'm channeling my time at Disneyland when I walk 20 miles a day in platform boots and somehow have enough energy to do it all over again the next day.
Here's to my friends and community members who are also struggling. I see you. I'm with you. 💚
Hello from my office. Right now, it is storage central because we have the carpet cleaners coming today.
What about you? What are you up to this weekend? Tell me all about it!
Unpopular Travel Opinion: There is no such this as overpacking.
Listen, just pack what you want. Pack what you need. As long as you have a way to transport your luggage, and you're good with traveling with it, bring it all!
I love being prepared. And I also love photo shoots. And really big shoes. I tend to bring more luggage than most people. Folks call it overpacking. Me? It's just packing, lol.
So real talk: do you think it's possible to overpack?

I am so excited to unbox the brand new Leatherman Arc. You might be surprised to see me, Geek Girl Travel, unboxing a multi-tool like this, but my type A perfectionist self loves having such an efficient tool available. Bonus points that it's made in the USA! This isn't my first Leatherman, but it is now my very favorite.
We travel with a Leatherman, always in checked luggage, because you never know when you're going to need a tool and be left searching. This Leatherman has everything from a file to really cute scissors to a saw. It has a saw! Honestly, it's so useful. If you love adventure travel, think of adding one to your kit.
Do you own a multi-tool? Or travel with some tools? Comment with your must-pack travel survival kit items.

Saying goodbye to this vintage spooky nail set that was inspired by ideas you guys gave me for nail sets I need to do! These nails are a month old. Isn't that impressive? They still look so good!
How about we try that again. My November set is already chosen, but want to help me decide on December?
Also, comment your best guesses on what you think I replaced this set with. Any ideas on my next theme? Bonus points for the best and worst answers, lolol.

Located in the city of Bend, Oregon (about 160 miles from Portland), be prepared to be transported back to your 90s kid youth when you see this perfectly preserved Last Blockbuster on Earth. Yes, you read that right. There is still a Blockbuster operating in Oregon and you can totally visit it.
I’ve had different health challenges for as long as I can remember. When I got into college and really had to manage my own health care, things took a turn for the worse. That would be the start of what would turn out to be a very long journey trying to find a medical professional who…
Before traveling to Iceland for the first time, we were so excited to learn more about its history. Food culture is really important in my family, so we especially love delving into the food history of every place we visit. Iceland was particularly fascinating to learn about due to a combination of its geographical location, its isolation…
First things first – you are going on a safari. That is awesome! Congratulations. Here are 10 things I just don’t see as often or consistently on all of the “must pack” lists that I think need to be.
We absolutely love exploring the many beaches the Caribbean has to offer. Truth be told, I’ve explored many Caribbean beaches while enjoying cruises around that region of the world. This list goes over my favorite beaches to visit while on a Caribbean Cruise.
Let’s be real. Haggling is a somewhat controversial thing. You tend to either love it or hate it. For me, haggling or bargaining is this sacred dance between the seller and me.
I’m sure you’ve started to see a trend when it comes to my travels. I collect local art from every new place I visit. I figure I’ll one day be able to create a gallery of adventures. Buying local is a huge part of that wanderlust. When I’m experiencing a new community, I want to…

Beach travel is definitely a big part of our world travel. Ironic for someone as photosensitive as I am, but the sound of the water and the feeling of sand between my toes means I just prepare myself a bit more for the excursion.
